Free Online Fraction Calculator

Here is a simple and very useful tool - a free online fraction calculator that does addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of 2 fractions.

It can even reduce the result to the lowest terms.

Of course, every calculator in the world is suppose to save you time, but using it only makes sense if you already know what it does for you. :-)

So practice enough without a calculator to know how to do a particular problem, even better - master it, then don't waste your time anymore and use calculators.

Adding fractions

As you can see, if we don't have the same denominators, we must first make them the same. We do that by finding the LCM (Least Common Multiple).

Subtracting fractions

The same thing as with addition. If we have "apples" and "oranges", we must first make them all "apples". :-) We find the LCM and then it's easy.

Multiplying fractions

No big wisdom here. We multiply the numerators in the "attic", and the denominators in the "basement".

If we can reduce anything, we do it, and that's it.

Dividing fractions

Division of fractions is only one step away from multiplication.

We change the places of the numerator and the denominator of the second fraction - and voila - we have our fraction multiplication case from above.
